The UNFI dispute window
A deduction you can prove is still worthless if you file too late. Here's how UNFI's timing works and how to stay ahead of it.
Two clocks matter. The first is how long you have to file a dispute; the second is how long UNFI takes to resolve it. Once filed, UNFI returns a tracking number within about two business days, updates status weekly by email, and typically resolves within 30–45 days.
Filing deadlines vary by deduction type and by your UNFI agreement. Because deductions arrive continuously as payments and adjustments, a backlog builds quickly — and the oldest, most disputable items are the ones most likely to age out. Work the queue by deadline first, dollar value second.
How to never miss a window
- Pull every remittance and adjustment on a fixed cadence.
- Log each deduction with its date and calculated filing deadline.
- Request MCB backup early so promotional disputes aren't stuck waiting.
- Work the queue by deadline, not by size.
